Choosing the Right Child Care Program
At Athletic Arts Academy, we are committed to maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for all participants. To uphold this standard, we reserve the right to suspend or discontinue services for any child whose behavior is consistently unsafe, disruptive, or poses a risk of harm to themselves, other children, staff, or the facility.
In accordance with New Jersey childcare regulations, discipline practices within our program are strictly non-physical and focused on positive guidance, redirection, and age-appropriate behavioral support. Physical punishment, humiliation, or restraint as a form of discipline is strictly prohibited. Physical intervention may only be used in limited emergency situations to prevent immediate harm, and only as permitted by law.
Our programs are designed for children who can participate safely within a group setting with minimal individualized behavioral intervention. If a child requires ongoing one-on-one support, behavioral management plans, or therapeutic services, our program may not be the appropriate setting. In such cases, short-term or limited participation options may be recommended.
While we are experienced youth coaches and educators, we are not behavioral health or medical professionals. If a child demonstrates persistent behavioral challenges that impact their safety or the safety of others, families may be required to obtain an external evaluation and/or provide a support plan prior to continued participation. We are happy to offer referrals to appropriate community resources when needed.
We value and respect each parent’s insight into their child’s needs. Open communication and early intervention are essential to ensuring a positive experience for all. Addressing concerns proactively helps prevent situations that may require parent notification, early dismissal, or program withdrawal.
Medication Policy Reminder:
Please refer to the Medical Policy section of this handbook for full details. As a general rule:
-
We do not administer routine prescription or non-prescription medications.
-
Children must take medications prior to arrival or be capable of self-administering approved emergency medications (e.g., inhalers).
-
We are authorized to administer EpiPens in emergency situations only, in accordance with New Jersey law and with proper documentation on file.
-
All other medications, including over-the-counter items such as cough syrup or antihistamines, are not permitted on-site.
-
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and successful environment for all children in our care.
Sincerely,
Samiah "Coach Samiah" Tyler
